07.08.2020

Recently, winter mustard is becoming popular due to the growing demand for mustard oil seeds. Due to its higher yield potential, winter mustard can be an alternative to spring mustard in very arid regions of cultivation of this crop, for instance, in the northern regions of the Krasnodar, Rostov and Volgograd regions.

The oil obtained from the seeds of the winter mustard cultivar Dzhuna does not contain erucic acid, therefore, it belongs to the category of edible oils. The meal (cake) is suitable for use as a mustard powder for making of prepared mustard and as a feed concentrate for farm animals. The plants of the cultivar Dzhuna are able to endure minimum air temperatures of -14 °С in the absence of snow cover and soil temperatures of -8 °С at the depth of a root neck (3 cm).
