The key factor for a higher economic benefit of rapeseed production is the price of oil seeds and oil. The secret of high productivity of rapeseed lies in its undemanding nature to the soil composition, as well as in the insusceptibility to changes in temperature.

Adaptation to climate

Doctor of agriculture, head of the soybean department of V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops, Sergey Viktorovich Zelentsov gave an interview to Bloomberg.

"New cultivars have appeared, breeding makes progress, especially after additional demand has occured as part of the development of animal breeding.
Last year, together with our Irkutsk colleagues, we developed a cultivar, which grows successfully even if there is permafrost at a depth of 2 meters and below top soil. Nevertheless, in the conditions of the center of the Irkutsk region in taiga, temperatures and precipitation are enough to get a profitable harvest. We named this cultivar Barguzin and last year submitted it for testing."

The first in the Russian Federation high oleic variety of winter rapeseed "Olivin"

The breeders of V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops developed the first in the Russian Federation winter rapeseed variety with high oleic acid content, "Olivin".

The breeders of our institute spent more than 15 years to develop the high-oleic variety of winter rapeseed "Olivin". It was obtained as a result of crossbreeding, selection, and self-pollination of a hybrid combination, in which lines with a high ω-9 content and the variety of VNIIMK breeding "Drakon" were used.

Sunflower hybrids

All sunflower hybrids are developed using parent material adapted to local conditions. The offered sunflower hybrids are resistant to the complex of the main pathogens (broomrape, downy mildew, Phomopsis blight)
