On November 6, 2020, by decision of the Academic Council, a grove of “Memory and Glory” was opened on the territory of V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops (17 Filatova street, Krasnodar) to preserve the historical memory and to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

The object includes 75 red oak saplings and a thematic art project (graffiti) with a total area of 876 m2 that is drawn on four buildings that surround the grove.

Georgy Kurinov described his artistic embodiment as follows:

“In my sketch project I wanted to show the history and spirit of scientific activity that passes through the times, beginning from the pre-revolutionary times, through the difficult times of the Great Patriotic War and post-war period. And as a result, the thread of events leads us to our time and makes a reference to the progressive future of Russian science”.

Vyacheslav Lucomets, the acting director of the Institute of Oil Crops, opened the event:

“By the Decree of the President of Russia, 2020 has been declared the Year of Memory and Glory. To preserve the historical memory and to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, it was decided to immortalize the heroic deed of the people by planting an oak grove of “Memory and Glory”. We are proud that all together we can make our contribution to the cause of our President, in his effort to pass on the memory of those great years to the next generations. Of those years when, in a single heroic impulse, our Great People defended their right to be the master of their life on their land”.

Evgeny Shendrik, the chairman of the Kuban House of Assembly, the hero of the Russian Federation, and Viktor Markelov, the head of the local branch of the Russian Association of Heroes of the Russian Federation, the hero of the Russian Federation, laid flowers at the stele of the Institute employees who died during the Great Patriotic War.

The event was launched by Alexei Ermakov, the chief federal inspector for the Krasnodar region, and Alexei Kondratenko, the member of the Federation Council committee on agrarian and food policy and nature management, who unveiled the commemorative stone symbolizing the laying of the oak grove of “Memory and Glory”.
