On July 21, 2020, the Field day of demonstration sowings took place with the support of the Ministry of agriculture and processing industry of the Krasnodar region
This year, V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops (VNIIMK) made demonstration sowings of sunflower and soybean in all natural and climatic areas of the Krasnodar region with the purpose of promotion and advancement of seed material of domestic cultivars and hybrids of agricultural crops.
The inspection of demonstration sowings took place on advanced farms of the municipalities of Pavlovsky, Timashevsky, Kalininsky and Uspensky districts.
A telephonic meeting was held with a direct connection to the fields of all four districts; it was headed by Andrey Korobka, Deputy Head of the Krasnodar region administration. The meeting was also attended by Alexander Trubilin, Deputy Chairman of Legislative Assembly of Kuban, Chairman of the Committee for the development of the agroindustrial complex and food, Fyodor Dereka, Minister of agriculture and processing industry of the Krasnodar region, Anton Gogolev, Head of the branch of FGBU “Gossortkomissiya” in the Krasnodar region, Igor Lobach, President of NO “SRO National Association of Corn and Sunflower Seed Producers” and representatives of agricultural producers.
Vyacheslav Lucomets, director of VNIIMK, attended the Field day meeting. Among the speakers present in the fields were Yakov Demurin, head of the department of biological research, head of the laboratory of genetics and Sergey Zelentsov, head of the laboratory of soybean breeding and seed production. They talked about the advantages and of soybean cultivars, sunflower cultivars and hybrids of VNIIMK: produced in the Krasnodar region, they are more adaptable to production in the south of Russia, therefore they tolerate well the adverse weather conditions (drought and high air temperatures), which provides an opportunity to receive a consistently high yield.
