Visit of the delegation of the Ministry of science and higher education of the Russian Federation to the Krasnodar region
On July 23-24, 2020, the delegation of the Ministry of science and higher education of the Russian Federation visited the Krasnodar region. The government delegation included Deputy Minister Alexey Mikhailovich Medvedev, Director of the department for organizations coordination in the field of agricultural sciences of the Ministry of science of the Russian Federation Vugar Bagirov and Director of the department of plant growing, mechanization, chemicalization and plant protection of the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation Roman Nekrasov.
The interim director of V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops Vyacheslav Lucomets accompanied the delegation. The delegation visited demonstration sowing of sugar beet hybrids of the “Pervomaiskaya experimental station of sugar beet”. Special attention was paid to demonstration sowings of soybean cultivars and sunflower hybrids at the Armavir experimental station, a branch of V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops. The start of harvesting of sugar beet Rubin of Russian breeding was made at the Urupskoye station. The delegation also took part in “The Field day of corn hybrids of Russian breeding - 2020”, where they visited the corn sizing factory “Kuban”.
In January, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin approved the Food Security Doctrine of the Russian Federation. The document defines the food independence as the level of self-sufficiency, which is calculated as the ratio of the volume of domestic production of agricultural products, raw materials and food to the volume of their domestic consumption. The document sets different threshold values for the different groups of goods. The indicator for the seeds of domestic breeding of the main agricultural crops is at least 75 %.
Alexey Medvedev noted the importance of the work of scientific institutions to achieve this goal and the need for further persistent actions to receive quality results.
