On 19 and 20 February, a report-and-planning session of VNIIMK took place. Within 2 days, the reports of the heads of scientific departments of the institute, its branches and experimental stations on the results of work for 2017 were heard.
As a result of the research work in the reported year, VNIIMK and its experimental stations have created and sent for state varietal trials the following number of varieties and hybrids: two sunflower lines, four sunflower hybrids, one sunflower variety, one variety of decorative sunflower, one hybrid of decorative sunflower, four soybean varieties, three oil flax varieties, one variety of winter rapeseed, one variety of brown mustard.
VNIIMK and its experimental stations received 13 patents for selection achievements, 1 patent for utility model, 10 applications were sent for obtaining patents of the Russian Federation for selection achievements and 1 application for utility model.
The VNIIMK workers took part in 14 international and 6 all-Russian scientific conferences.
In 2017, the Institute was visited by the delegations from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tasjikistan and the delegations from the companies Syngenta and BASF, which had representatives from France, Switzerland and Hungary.
Scientists published 181 scientific articles, 4 articles in newspapers; there has also been published 2 monographs, 1 atlas, 12 recommendations and 13 memos to help agricultural producers,In 2017, the institute workers provided methodological assistance in growing hybrid seeds of sunflower to special farms of the Krasnodar, Volgograd, Voronezh and Saratov regions.
